Wrought Iron Fig Tree Sculpture by Ivan Zanoni
Italy, Contemporary
Rich in symbolism and ancient meaning, the fig tree has long been revered as a sacred emblem of fertility, vitality, and enlightenment—appearing in the Old Testament alongside the vine as a symbol of abundance and joy.
Based in Caldes (Trentino, Italy), Zanoni is heir to a family tradition of blacksmithing passed down from his father, Luciano Zanoni, who famously forged a monumental four-meter olive tree sculpture for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle.
In 2024, Ivan Zanoni was honored with a major solo exhibition at Mart – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto, Italy’s leading contemporary art institution.
Deeply inspired by the natural world, Zanoni’s artistic language centers on botanical forms, animal anatomies, and organic movement, reimagined in iron with a poetic, almost mythological reverence.
His works have been exhibited in Italy, France, and Greece, and are especially sought after by collectors in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.
Private commissions available upon request.
