Painter

Born in 1959 in Colmenar Viejo (Madrid). When he was two years old he moved to Madrid where he spent his childhood and adolescence. His interest in art and, more specifically, in painting was present from an early age. When he was 14 years old he joined the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid where he acquired his first knowledge mainly in drawing and painting. From 1976 until 1981, he practiced drawing in the Fine Arts in Madrid. Following, in order to supplement his training, he took part in various workshops in Madrid, where he learned both the base and methodology necessary to reach the next qualitative step in his paintings, allowing him to make his big first steps in the professional world. Despite the diverse academic backgrounds, he was consistently and primarily self-taught.
In 1983 he settled with his wife Marisena in Ciempozuelos (Madrid). Here he created his studio-workshop where he currently lives with his family. More than two decades ago, he began teaching, assuming the position of professor in several public and private schools until 2001, when he created his own school "School of Drawing and Painting Antonio Vázquez", in which he continues to teach.
Throughout his career, he has earned more than 70 awards in both national and international competitions and contests. He has exhibited in major galleries, fairs and institutions; his art works belong to large public and private collections worldwide.
“In my work I mainly try to paint and reflect light and atmosphere. The element is simply a justification to achieve that purpose”.
